The Manipulated Image:
Computer as Medium May 8 – 30 Reception, Friday, May 7,
6-8 p.m. Curator's walk-through with Jeff Brice,
May 8, 2 p.m.
After Jeff Brice's work in BAC's Collage
exhibition showed us the richness and potential of
digital art, we asked him to guest co-curate a digital
art show for us. Jeff writes, "This show represents a
range of approaches to creating artwork using the
computer as a tool. All of the artists in this show use
the computer in an ideational way. That is, the computer
is an integral part to the creation and the thinking
process of the artists. Each artist incorporates the
computer into their process in a unique blend of digital
and traditional manner. Some artists use traditional
photography to capture images and then scan the
negatives into the digital realm in order to fabricate
new realities. Some artists work digitally and then use
traditional painting methods to paint right onto the
print. Some artists choose to work completely digitally
throughout the process. All of the artists have one
thing in common, a fascination with this new artistic
tool as well as a concern to create a perfect pieced of
artwork."
Jeff Brice is currently Head of Digital Design at
Cornish College of Art, and has been creating his
collages on the computer for over twenty years.
Artists include: Algie Abrams, Debi Bodett,
Jeff Brice, Karen Schminke, Sally Robison, and Stephen
Rock.

Peggy Brunton and
Michele VanSlyke June 5 – July 5 Friends
come together in this pairing of painter and sculptor.
Long-time Island residents Peggy Brunton and Michele
VanSlyke have planned for years to exhibit their work
together, and now the time has come.
Brunton builds rich surfaces of paint to create
intimate views of interiors, gardens, boats, and details
of Island life. VanSlyke's metal sculpture combines
brushed surfaces, color, and a dashing sense of design.
Feathers June 5 – July 5
